Chemical Risk Assessment (CRA)
Chemicals Risk Assessment. The identification of hazards, the evaluation of their risks and the putting in place of control measures to secure the health and safety of employees is a major element for managing health and safety under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005.
Managing Risks of Hazardous Chemicals in the Workplace. Health hazards such as skin irritants, carcinogens or respiratory sensitisers can have an adverse effect on a worker’s health as a result of direct contact with or exposure to the chemical, usually through inhalation, skin contact or ingestion.
A physical hazard is defined as “A factor within the environment that can harm the body without necessarily touching it. Vibration and noise are examples of physical hazards”. Physical hazards include but aren’t limited to electricity, radiation,pressure, noise, heights and vibration amongst many others.
